Reaching net zero requires a fundamental transformation in steelmaking: advances in breakthrough technologies, wider access to clean energy, supportive policy, and the right economics. As we continue on this long term transition, we have already launched two key decarbonised steel solutions using optimised existing technologies:

ArcelorMittal's XCarb™ innovation fund will invest in companies developing breakthrough technologies that will accelerate the steel industry’s transition to carbon neutral steelmaking.

XCarb® steel certificates
Our industry-first XCarb™ steel certificates allow customers to report an equivalent reduction in their Scope 3 emissions, in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.

XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel
XCarb™ recycled and renewably produced steel is made from recycled steel using 100% renewable electricity in an Electric Arc Furnace.

ArcelorMittal works with Renault on its Emblème low-carbon vehicle concept
ArcelorMittal is proud to spotlight its collaboration with Renault Group and its contribution to the innovative Renault Emblème project, a demo car designed to meet the challenges of low-carbon mobility.
